    Why Do People Snore ?

Snoring occurs when the airway at the back of the throat constricts. Air then has to be inhaled at increased speed and pressure, causing the soft tissue in the back of the mouth to vibrate and make the snoring noise.

    Is It Common ?

Yes, just about everyone snores at one time or another. It is estimated that 25% of people snore on a regular basis.

    Is It Serious ?

It could be. Most often snoring simply disturbs others or gives the snorer a dry mouth. However, snoring may be a symptom of Sleep Apnea which is a serious condition that should be evaluated in a sleep lab.

    What Can I Do ?

Your dentist can fabricate an oral appliance that is worn while sleeping. The appliance prevents your lower jaw and tongue from dropping back and constricting your airway when you are asleep
